This document from Smarter Balanced provides information for educators to use when communicating with parents and families regarding the use of Smarter Balanced Assessments during the 2015-2016 school year.

This document summarizes the ELA/literacy Interim Assessment Blocks available at each grade level.

The Smarter Balanced-Revised English Language Arts/literacy final blueprint describes the content of the ELA summative assessment in grade 3-8 and 11, and how that content will be assessed to reflect the depth and breadth of the performance expectations for the Hawaii Common Core Standards.

The Hawaii DOE Testing website provides updates and information on statewide assessments. Employees with access to the Hawaii DOE Intranet may also sign in and access the Assessment and Accountability page.

This form can be used to gather key information that the Help Desk often needs in order to work on a case. To help move cases more quickly to the appropriate Help Desk agent, please fill in the form and copy and paste it in your initial email to the Help Desk along with a description of the issue you are reporting.

The Parent Information Booklet (PIB) includes information for the grades 3–8 and 11 Smarter Balanced ELA/Literacy and Mathematics Assessments and the grades 4 and 8 Hawaii State Science Assessments. Printed copies of the PIBs will be delivered to each school in September. The number of English and translated PIBs provided to each school is based on the language spoken at home as indicated in Infinite Campus.

Participation and non-participation letters that schools may send to parents along with the Parent Information Booklet about the grades 3-8 and 11 Smarter Balanced ELA/Literacy and Mathematics Assessments and the grades 4 and 8 Hawaii State Science Assessments are available in English and 14 translated languages.

The Smarter Balanced website provides information and resources to inform educators, parents, and students about the Smarter Balanced Assessments.
