The HSA Science Assessments for grades 4 and 8 and the Biology End-of-Course Exam will be the Bridge Assessments for SY 2017-2018 and SY 2018-2019 as Hawaii moves towards tests that are fully aligned to NGSS in SY 2019-2020. The Bridge Assessments measure students’ attainment of the relevant HCPS III standards and benchmarks that are aligned with NGSS performance expectations. Students will be given two opportunities to take the HSA Science Assessments and one for the Biology EOC.

The Parent Information Booklet (PIB) includes information for the grades 3–8 and 11 Smarter Balanced ELA/Literacy and Mathematics Assessments and the grades 4 and 8 Hawaii State Science Assessments. Printed copies of the PIBs will be delivered to each school in September. The number of English and translated PIBs provided to each school is based on the language spoken at home as indicated in Infinite Campus.

Participation and non-participation letters that schools may send to parents along with the Parent Information Booklet about the grades 3-8 and 11 Smarter Balanced ELA/Literacy and Mathematics Assessments and the grades 4 and 8 Hawaii State Science Assessments are available in English and 14 translated languages.
